Malcolm Kennedy Counselling & Psychotherapy

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a counsellor?
If you are reading this, you may be looking for the type of help I offer.
Many people need help when facing a crisis or a personal issue. When situations or emotions are overwhelming, people often need help to understand themselves and their circumstances.
Support helps you to make sense of your situation and to make changes in your life.

How long do sessions last?
Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes.

Will my sessions be confidential?
Confidentiality is a core principle in counselling and psychotherapy. As a member of the BACP I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice and subject to its complaints procedure. Visit www.bacp.co.uk.

How many sessions?
The number of sessions really depends on you and your issues.
I generally recommend an initial contract of eight sessions. We will discuss this in the initial assessment and any agreement we reach is open - ended and open to negotiation. It is usual to have reviews on a regular basis.
